Actual Day brings daily check-ins, mental-clutter capture, tasks, focus tools and an evening shutdown into one capacity-aware planner. Read the complete guide to what Actual Day can do, or browse the answers below.
What is Actual Day?
Actual Day is a capacity-aware daily planner. It combines a short daily check-in, tasks, brain dumps, focus tools, routines, pattern review and an evening shutdown so the plan can reflect the energy and attention you actually have.
Who is Actual Day designed for?
Actual Day was built by a neurodivergent founder for adults organising everyday life as well as work. You can use it for appointments, household jobs, personal projects or business tasks. You do not need a diagnosis or a job title to use it.
What does capacity mean in Actual Day?
Capacity is how much you can realistically do today. The check-in considers mood, energy, sleep and sensory comfort, then gives the app context for keeping the plan proportionate. It is a planning guide, not a medical assessment.
Do I have to check in every day?
No. A check-in helps Actual Day understand the current day, but you can skip it or edit it later. There are no streaks to maintain and the app will not punish you for missing a day.
What happens if I miss a day?
Nothing breaks. When you return, Today shows the current day. Previous check-ins and entries remain available in History and Journal.
Can I use voice instead of typing?
Yes. Brain dump can record and transcribe your voice, and Meeting capture can turn a spoken debrief into tidied notes and action items. Voice is processed by an AI transcription service.
How does the Brain dump work?
Type or speak freely and Actual Day keeps the complete entry in your Journal. It then suggests tasks and recurring commitments for you to review. You can edit, accept or discard every suggestion before saving it.
Can Actual Day break a large task into steps?
Yes. Break it down can rewrite a task more clearly and suggest two to six smaller, startable steps. You review and edit the steps before they are saved. This is an Actual Day Plus feature.
What does Actual Day do when I feel overwhelmed?
When capacity is low, sensory load is high or the open list has become heavy, Actual Day can show one unfinished step or one relatively quick win while keeping the rest available below. It also includes optional breathing, grounding and movement tools.
Can I make the app less visually busy?
Yes. Low-stimulation mode removes animations and shadows across the app. You can also select a different colour theme. Both settings are available from More.
Does Actual Day connect to my calendar?
Actual Day Plus connects to Google Calendar and Outlook. You authorise the provider directly, and Actual Day does not see your calendar password. You can set reminder times and add selected work to your calendar.
Does Actual Day work on a phone?
Yes. Actual Day runs in a phone browser and can be added to the home screen for a full-screen, app-like experience. It also works in supported browsers on tablets and computers.
Is there a free version?
Yes. The free tier includes the core planning loop: daily check-in, tasks, Focus timer and Shutdown. Plus adds AI Brain dump and task extraction, Break it down, capacity nudges, calendar connection and Meeting capture.
How does the 14-day trial work?
The trial provides 14 days of full Actual Day Plus access. Card details are required to begin. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the monthly or annual subscription selected at checkout begins automatically.
How much does Actual Day Plus cost?
Standard pricing is £7 per month or £59 per year. The current price and billing interval are shown before you confirm the trial in the app.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Go to More, then Billing & subscription. If you cancel, Plus access continues until the end of the current trial or paid billing period and the subscription will not renew after that.
What happens to my data if I stop subscribing?
Your entries remain yours. You can continue using the free parts of Actual Day and download a copy of the records you have entered from More → Privacy & account.
Is my information private?
Actual Day stores what you enter so your planning features work. The information is not sold, used for advertising or shared with other users. Base44 provides hosting and processing; Google or Microsoft also process data if you authorise a calendar connection.
Can I export or delete my information?
Yes. More → Privacy & account lets you download your records and request full account deletion. Actual Day confirms deletion requests by email once they have been actioned.
Is Actual Day medical or therapeutic support?
No. Actual Day is a planning and reflection tool. It does not provide medical advice, diagnose conditions or replace professional medical or therapeutic care.
How do I get help?
Use Support inside the app or email help@actual-day.com. If you cannot sign in, reset your password from the login screen using the same email address you used to register.
